Girls basketball defeats Walter Johnson, improves to 12-2
Varsity girls basketball defeated the the Walter Johnson Wildcats, 58-46, advancing their record to 12-2.
In the first quarter, the Lady Vikings scored 12 points and gave up 11. The Vikes passed well, and shot frequently, but the Wildcat offense was aggressive and came out strong.
In the second quarter, the Vikings shut down the Wildcat offense, only giving up 12 points and scoring 21. Strong defense led to success on offense as the Viking entered halftime with a strong lead.
In the third quarter, the Lady Vikes scored 15 points, and only gave up nine. Forward Angelica Ceccone was back on her game, scoring 15 points.
The Wildcats final efforts to make a comback failed them, as they only scored 10 points but gave up 14 in the fourth quarter. Captains Whitney Kolakowski and Rachel Sisco each scored 14 points.
The Vikings are now 6-2 in their conference, putting them in second place behind Northwest.
They will look to continue their winning streak against Wooton on Jan 26.
