[caption id="attachment_31793" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Photo courtesy http://www.capitalpride.org/"][/caption] Voted DC’s best parade by readers of the Washington City Paper, the 38th Annual Pride Parade will travel 1.5 miles through Dupont Circle and 17th Street, ending in the Logan Circle neighborhood of northwest Washington, DC. The parade, which is expected to attract more than 100,000 spectators, will include more than 170 floats and a rainbow of participants from politicians to drag queens.

The DC Jazz Festival is an annual event that features more than 125 jazz performances at concert venues and clubs throughout DC. It is the regions largest musical festival and one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year. The festival presents major jazz artists from around the world and introduces emerging artists. As a last hurrah for seniors and a much-needed treat for everyone else, the SGA has planned a day chocked full of fun events. The day will begin at 1:40 with a pep run by Hot 99.5, as a celebration of our successful fundraising efforts for Leukemia Lymphoma. At 3:00 senior and junior girls will battle it out on the football field during the annual Powder Puff game. The day will conclude with the Spring Fair beginning at 4:30 and ending at 8:30.

Motorcyclists from around the nation will rally in the Pentagon parking lot before riding through the streets of D.C. Sunday, May 26, 2013. This tribute to American war heroes began in 1988 with 2,500 participants. Now approximately 900,000 participants and spectators are involved.  

The Washington D.C. Dragon Boat festival is an annual event sponsored by the Chinese Women’s League of Washington as a way to promote Chine culture throughout the D.C. area. This two-day festival features competitive dragon boat racing on the Potomac River. It also hosts a variety of cultural exhibitions and craft demonstrations. The competition begins at the Thompson’s Boat Center at 8:30.

Celebrate mother’s day at the Tudor Place Historic House and Garden in Georgetown. There you can sample periodic teas, finger sandwiches, and delicious desserts all while learning about proper tea etiquette from a costumed interpreter. Member Adult: $25 Non-Member Adult: $3o Child (under 18): 15
