Girls softball loses in first round of playoffs

Varsity softball fell to the Gaithersburg Trojans, 4-3, May 13, in the first round of playoffs.
The ladies started the game out strong, scoring three consecutive runs and taking the lead in the first inning and holding it into the third. In the third inning, however; the Trojans scored two runs, putting the Vikes down by one.
Boys tennis loses at County Finals, Wootton remains untouchable

Softball ends season with a loss, look to playoffs

Varsity softball ended their regular season with a 4-0 loss to the Sherwood Warriors, May 10, finalizing their record at 7-9.
Despite losing third baseman Alex Rodgers to a jammed finger, the Lady Vikes held the Warriors to only four runs in the first couple of innings. (continue reading…)

Varsity softball defeated the Springbrook Blue Devils 11-10, May 8, bringing its record to 7-8.

Softball falls to Damascus

Varsity softball lost to the Damascus Hornets 14-1 on May 6, bringing its record to 6-8.
The game started out evenly, as both teams had yet to score by the bottom of the third inning. The Hornets then scored four quick runs, giving them the 4-0 lead. Two innings later, senior Alex Rodgers scored Whitman’s first run, bringing the score to 4-1.
Wootton, Prep and Northwest break records at Viking Invitational
At the Fifth Annual Viking Invitational last weekend, wind gusts up to 29 miles per hour made running conditions dificult. However, runners from Wootton, Georgetown Prep and Northwest all broke records.
A total of 37 different teams competed at the event, giving a good sneak preview of the upcoming championship season. While the Vikings didn’t come away with many notable times, many meet records were broken. (continue reading…)
