Nick’s Organic Farm to be returned to the county for educational purposes
The two-year legal battle over Nick’s Organic Farm is over. County Executive Isiah Leggett canceled its lease with Montgomery County Public Schools Feb. 19, abandoning efforts to build soccer fields on the 20-acre Brickyard Road site. The move returns the land to the County Board of Education to be used for educational purposes.

Schoolbus involved in three-vehicle crash
A Montgomery County Public Schools schoolbus was involved in a crash with a Lexus and a Hyundai at the intersection of River Rd. and Whittier Blvd. at 2:07 p.m. Feb. 13. There were no students on the bus, and all three vehicles were towed, public information officer Rebecca Innocenti said.

Longtime MCPS employee appointed school security team leader
Longtime security team member Cherisse Milliner was appointed the new security team leader of the security department Jan. 2. The 23-year MCPS employee succeeds former head Andy Weiss, who retired Dec. 31 after working in MCPS schools for 15 years.
